The Whole ( well, almost) Sorry Story

For the month of May, I was very happy to have a solo show at a new gallery in Louisville, KY. Unfortunately, the gallery folded and very bad things happened as a result. The bright side is that I got 21 out of 22 pieces back, and only two suffered damage beyond the frames. The dark side is that the two Starsweepers, egg tempera and gold leaf paintings that were products of what I learned at SRAL in Maastricht, were horribly damaged. If I can get up enough courage to look at them to photo, I'll post them as they are now, but trust me, it isn't a pleasant sight. The piece that is missing is Silent Singers: http://lynettesartblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/silent-singers.html If you see it, please let me know.

Anyway, I learned a lot of lessons on this one. I have two paintings in the works and I'm getting ready to make my first solarplates on my own. Also, there is a new drawing coming, a la Mrs. Swift. Don't hold your breath. We all know how slow I am.

I would like to give a shout out to Michael Johnson, Kim White, Angela GandeeStolz, Lisa Frye and Erin Garr, and also Jaime Patterson for all of their help. The artists and people of Louisville are about as fine a group of folks as you would care to meet. They were the silver lining of this challenging situation. Also to my sister Diane and her husband Wayne for all of their help and support. True warriors for the cause, all.
