I heard a quotation by Mao Tse Tung once that said "Women hold up half the sky". Sometimes it seems to me that in some contexts, their responsibilities extend beyond half.
I agree with with mao tse tung’s quote. It does seem as though women are expected to do everything and some. They are expected to have a career, help out with the home, deal with the children and still have extra time left over. This piece has a post humanistic element to it because it would be an unreasonable expectation for a woman to hold up half the sky. “Women hold up half the sky” exceeds the actual possible capabilities that a human would be able to perform.
First of all, this is beautiful. It is a very interesting concept and is protrayed very well in this piece. Women are expected to "hold up the sky" and still have their own things in order, like the plants in the picture, which to me, symbolize children or things that are growing and the woman is expected to help them with that. This also has a post human element because a woman would not be able to hold up the sky. But still, even after all these years of advancement for women, we are still expected to hold everything together so that it does not come crashing down on us.

I see this painting as a strong Marxist feminism illistration. When i first looked at the picture it reminded me of the glass ceiling concept. The women appears to be under the glass ceiling which is preventing her from rising to the top. The women is struggling to maintain her ideas and values while working in a man's world. This picture is a clear representation of the obtstacles women face in the working world. Danielle Baker
First of all it takes great talent and skill to think of a painting like this even more to actually paint it and get your point across. This painting is a also great example of posthumanism. There is no way that a human woman would be able to hold up the sky. In order to accomplish this she has to be made up of some non-human elements.
