Yuletide Dream

Last night, I dreamed I was working at school and there was a big gathering of administrators. My paintings were up on the walls. When I looked again, they were gone, and no one could tell me where they went. A little later, I found out they had been moved so the gathering could show a film. I think it means that I need to stop watching so many movies and get back to my studio. If only it had heat 😰,

In another part, I talked to a very tall man who looked a lot like Beto O'Rourke. He had stars inside his irises. When I looked more closely, I saw that it was his glasses, projecting images that the person he was talking to would like. The man he was with saw galloping horses.

Still, he seemed very kind, and asked me if I would come to dinner with him. I said no, but, looking back, I wish I had said yes. Because how often does a woman get attention from a kind man with stars in his eyes?

Dream

I dreamed this image all night last night. It was supposed to be an illustration for a poem. Now, all I need is the poem.

IF: Dream

Dreams have always been a source of inspiration and pleasure for me. I've kept dream journals for much of my life, and many of my images are directly derived from them, When my son was just beginning to talk, I would ask him about his dreams when we woke up every morning. For a long time, he didn't have an answer. But one day, he offered up that he had dreamed about his toy trains, which were a big hit in our house at the time. I'm glad for this opportunity to relive this lovely memory with my contribution to Illustration Friday's topic of the week, Dream. The title of this one is Dreamer in Training.
I am also glad for the chance to show it again, because I recently corrected a minor mistake in perspective in this piece. It was a small error, but it has always bothered me. So here it is in its new and improved form.

Changed My Mind

Because this image has toys, and because I can make it the same size and format as the first one, I've decided to change the image for the next quilt to this one. It is from a painting called Dreamer in Training, and comes from my asking my son what he dreamed about in the mornings when he was a little boy. (It feels so odd, that he really isn't little anymore; he's a big boy of 12!) He sometimes said he dreamed of Thomas the Tank Engine, and so this came about. After a few conversations with Kendall folks, I've decided to drop the cat and add a train car, but this is basically the drawing for my next quilt. So far, I've drawn 6 of the panels, which I'll post soon.

Dream Wolf

PPF's question today is about the role of a muse in our work. I can't really name a muse, except I do have a very active dream life that is very often the source for my ideas. So, while I don't have a particular muse, I guess dreaming could be considered a "muse state for me". Happy PPF!
